Lewis Competes in Cruisers Classic

IslandStats.com
It is hard to believe that it’s been 8 months since the London 2012 Paralympics!

However Jessica Lewis’ 2013 Racing Season got underway with a small meet in Mississauga – the Cruisers Classic. It is IPC (International Paralympic Committee) sanctioned so all times will count for world rankings.

Lewis Personal Best times from last season are 18:51 in the 100m, 33:67 for the 200m, and 1.06.12 for 400m.

The racing season for Lewis will be short but busy.

The meet was cold, windy, and on a soft slow track, with the wind chill factor the temperature was in the mid 40's for the first race - the 200m!

Lewis was the only woman registered for the 400 so they let her ‘run’ in the heat with the guys! Wind on the back side was crazy-strong, so again not a good time. Her 100m was warmer and calmer, so she did a 19.81.

Coach Ken was not concerned with times at this meet - this one was to be under a starter’s gun and to get practice in their technique.
