FEI World Jumping Challenge Countdown

IslandStats.com
Many of Bermuda's top Equestrians will be competing this weekend at the National Equestrian Centre in Devonshire in the FEI World Jumping Challenge which this year also incorporates the qualifying for the equestrian competition in the Youth Olympic Games to be held next year in China.

There will be two levels of competition at a height of 1m20 for category "A" and 1m10 for category "B" with the Jumping starting at 9.30am on Saturday and at 8.30am on Sunday.
Saturday's competition will be preceeded by a veterinary inspection to ensure that all horses are sound with a prize being presented to the best turned out animal.

The FEI visiting judge for the weekend will be Chystune Tauber, who is currently President of the United States Equestrian Federation and she will be assisted by local FEI judge Paul Pereech.

Defending champion from last year in category A Michael Rodrigues will be competing but on a different mount and he will be challenged by previous winner Claire Howard. They will be joined by Junior rider Khaleb Tota, who will be attempting to qualify for the Youth Olympic Games, and Philip Correia who recently had a successful Ag Show.

This competition which is held annually gives riders an opportunity to gauge themselves against riders from other countries without actually travelling overseas to do so as all of the courses are built to identical specifications.
