While all eyes and attention is currently being put on the Bermuda Day Half Marathon Derby, we take this time to focus on the 24th May Bermuda Day Junior Classic Race.
The event is by invitation only and all 75 invitations for the event have gone out to the various schools and running clubs.
Last year’s winners were twelve year old Aaron Jacobs and eleven year old Messiah Greaves. Jacobs cross the line in a time of 11:17, while Greaves finished in 12:48.
Henry Talbot has the fastest Male time for the event set back in 1999 with a time of 10:16, while Kyrah Scraders’ time of 12:14 back in 2009 was the fastest Female time.
Other’s Male runners who have put their names on the title over the 15 years include Tyler Butterfield who clocked 10:35 back in 2005, Henry Stevens Carty, Aaron Evans and Juma Mouchette.
While Shardae Whitter is the only participant to win the event three times, she recorded wins in 1998, 1999 and 2001, while Shellicia McKenzie, Rachel Fox and Ashley Berry have all won the event twice.
