The Bermuda Basketball Association’s CellOne Elite City League kicked off with the defending Champions Bluebirds handing the expansion team Trinity Sound Lions a welcome to the league by defeating them 40 - 27.
Anthony Furbert led the Bluebirds to victory scoring 15 points, while the high scorer for Trinity Sound Lions was Reggie Toluca who also scored 15 points. Owner of the Lions, Lynwood Richardson said "It’s a work in progress and there is plenty of season the left ".
Game 2 saw the Fort Knox Panthers take on the Robin Hood Warriors. The Panthers got off to a hot start with sharp shooter Kevin Stevens hitting five 3 pointers in the first half giving his team a 39 - 17 halftime lead over the warriors. The Second half saw Jason Lowe and Kellen Beckham get hot scoring 12 and 10 respectively for the warriors in the half, but it was not enough as Ronnie Beuchler scored ten of his 15 and Stevens added another 8 second half points to keep the Panthers lead at 20 for a 65-45 win. Coach Hendrickson said "It was a great Start to the season with a Win and we will be looking to keep playing well and improving week by week ".
