www.islandstats.com discovered that in order to comply with a FIFA requirement that the region develop a Club Licensing system, CONCACAF has commenced the process of creating a strategy aimed at advancing clubs at all levels.
Once we discovered this we asked the Bermuda Football Association General Secretary David Sabir to answer two questions>
Q. What is Bermuda’s planning to do, In order to comply with a FIFA requirement that the region develop a Club Licensing system, CONCACAF has commenced the process of creating a strategy aimed at advancing clubs at all levels?
A. Simply put the Bermuda FA is mandated to comply with FIFA / CONCACAF / CFU initiatives. To this end, CONCACAF has just recently advised its member associations of the Club Licensing strategy and will be moving forward with this initiative as announced at the recently concluded Congress in Panama on April 19th. At this point in time it is premature to discuss what the Bermuda FA plans to do specifically except to say that we will address this initiative in its fullest extent which in principle would be to further assist the structural development of football in Bermuda via our clubs. It is important to note that CONCACAF Club Licensing manager circulated a questionnaire in March / April which was to gather data on the current structure of member associations in the region to which the BFA was a participant.
Q. Have the affiliates been told about the requirement?
A. Not yet. At the appropriate time the clubs will be advised of the initiative with the detailed information that we know will be provided by CONCACAF in due course.
