Only one of Jersey’s Individual Medal winners in athletics at the last NatWest Island Games in 2011 will compete at this summer’s showpiece in Bermuda. Teenager Elliott Dorey, who claimed Bronze in the 800m two years ago is the solitary athlete who will represent the island at the National Stadium in July. Zane and Shadine Duquemin who won two Golds each last time will focus their attention elsewhere, and reigning High Jump Champion Simon Phelan will all be absent from the squad. Hurdler Sophie Twinam and middle distance runner Claire Wilson won’t be competing either. Current NatWest Rising Star Stanley Livingston, is hoping to race in the World Youth Games in Ukraine so won’t feature in Bermuda. But Jersey will hope to repeat their success in the Women’s 4x400m Relay, with Gold Medalists Hazel le Cornu and Gemma Dawkins joined in the quartet by Katie Silva and Helen Butler. The Men’s team will be made up of Dorey, sprinters Robbie Stenhouse and Ben Silva, Oliver Querre and Daniel Robinson.
