Reports in Lancashire claim Burnley FC have been monitoring Nahki Wells regularly throughout the season.
Burnley’s 28-goal hitman Charlie Austin is expected to be off in the summer, with a number of Premier League and Championship clubs chasing his signature.
Burnley are likely to cash in before he enters the last year of his contract and have been looking round for potential replacements.
With 22 goals for Bradford City so far, Wells could fit the bill.
The 22-year-old put himself on the scouting map for his contribution in the League Two team reaching the Capital One Cup final.
Wells scored the opening goal in their two-legged Semi-Final with Aston Villa, paving the way for 3-1 win home win.
Bradford went on to become the first team from the Football League’s bottom tier to reach the final of the competition in 51 years, after progressing 4-3 on aggregate.
In doing so, Wells wrote his name in Bermudian football history as the first player from the island to appear in a Major Cup Final in England.
The pacy, skillful forward could be set for a second Wembley appearance in less than three months with Bradford guaranteeing their place in the play-offs following last weekend’s 1-0 win over Burton.
And Wells has played his part in their League Two promotion challenge, top scoring with 18 league goals.
The former Carlisle United striker has been tracked by a number of League One and Championship clubs since the last transfer window, when Bradford joint-chairman Mark Lawn insisted it would take “one hell” of an offer for them to consider selling.
“Everybody has got a price and I’m not being unrealistic. But it would have to be one hell of a price – a price where we would be able to replace him,” said Lawn at the time.
“We aren’t putting him in the shop window for anybody.”
But Burnley are likely to be in the market for at least one striker this summer, with top scorer Charlie Austin fully expected to be sold before the final year of his contract.
Wells, who had to turn down the offer of a contract following a trial with Ajax as a teenager, would command a fee in the region of £500,000 after signing a deal until June 2015 in September last year.
