Brothers Mitchell and Walker Campbell took part in the International Junior Golf Tour (IJGT) hosted a two-day, 36-hole event last weekend at Oyster Reef Golf Club (Hilton Head Island, S.C.).
During the Boys 14 & Under Division Walker Campbell stormed to victory, after two days of consistent play. Campbell was tied for the lead with Kevin Ying of Shanghai, China, after a first-round 8-over-par 80.
Campbell was hungry for a win and came out strong with a 3-over-par 39 on the front nine during the final round. He carded a single birdie for the day on No. 7. Campbell struggled a bit on the back nine, but carded a second 8-over-par 80 to for a tournament total of 160. His consistency was just enough to edge out the competition.
This was a breakthrough victory for Campbell after competing in several tournaments during the 2013-2013 season.
"It feels great to get my first IJGT victory," Campbell said.
Mitchell Campbell finished 11th in the Boys 15 – 19 Age Group Division who shot a two day score of 17-over par 161.
