The Bermuda Football Association’s (BFA) National Academy Under 14 and Under 16 teams departed Decatur, Alabama this morning to travel to Darlington School and Soccer Academy in Rome, Georgia.
Founded in 1905, Darlington School provides a rigorous, college-preparatory PK-12 day and boarding program that is global in focus and personal in delivery. Darlington School Soccer Academy is the year-round soccer training program offered by Darlington School. Offered to day and resident students as an extracurricular opportunity, the Soccer Academy enrolls highly motivated male and female student-athletes who share a common goal – to obtain a premier college-preparatory education and elite soccer training within a single, competitive program.
Educational pathways are a key initiative of the BFA NA program, and as such we strive to create opportunities for our players to use football as a vehicle in pursuit of a college degree, while also enhancing their athletic ability. The inclusion of the visit to Darlington School in this tour gives the players an opportunity to view the campus and develop a feel for what life away from home might be like if attending a boarding school. There are presently three members of the BFA National Academy who attend The Darlington School and are a part of the Darlington Soccer Academy; Vance Wall Brown, Jacob Greene and Jai Burgess.
Chad Liddle, the Director of the Darlington School Soccer Academy commented on the visit of the BFA National Academy, “Darlington School Soccer Academy is excited to welcome the Bermuda Football Association's Youth National Teams to our campus. Darlington has enrolled a number of talented Bermudan student-athletes over the years and, as director of the Soccer Academy, I have had the opportunity to travel to Bermuda to work with the Association staff and watch a number of these players on the field.”
