Southampton Rangers Partners Ghana Team

IslandStats.com
The Southampton Rangers Club has received little positive press in recent years. Often cast in a negative light with very few positive stories being printed about the club.

The new Executive, led by President, Gerri Saltus has been on a mission to turn things around and re-establish the club as a positive force in the Southampton community.

A number of initiatives have been undertaken by the club since the September elections and the efforts seem to be bearing fruits.

Weekly Wednesday happy hours at the club have been a hit, attracting mature crowds.

On one occasion Mrs. Cannonier, wife of the current Premier of Bermuda Craig Cannonier attended with her mother, who is a regular at the happy hour sets.

Work rallies around the club grounds have seen the community come together, like in the golden days of the club. Of course everything has not been perfect or without difficulty.

One example was this year’s Ed Sherlock Road Race which was marred with controversy. However, the executive and membership continue to give to the community and make Southampton a better place.

More recently, Southampton Rangers hosted a successful “Good Friday Community Day,” filled with fish cakes, hot-cross buns, kites and lots of family fun. Simultaneously, club Vice President Quinton Sherlock Jr. visited Ghana, West Africa.

In an unprecedented move for the club, Southampton Rangers will partner with a Football team in Ghana.

The plan is to share information and resources between the two clubs.

On this journey Sherlock carried a youth team kit with him. The jerseys and shorts were presented to the Under 13 team in Nungua, Ghana.

Southampton Rangers Sports Club is well on its way to transforming itself and re-emerging as a positive entity within the Southampton community and the global community.
