St. George’s Colts All-Stars Retained the RO Smith Annual Over-40’s Trophy

St. George’s Colts All-Stars 2 Somerset Trojans All-Stars 1


The 19th RO Smith Annual Over-40’s Football match between the St. George’s Colts All-Stars and the Somerset Trojans All-Stars once again drew a large crowd at the Wellington Oval.

The Somerset Trojans went in front in the first half when Duane DeRosa calmly beat Troy Hall to his left from the penalty spot, this after Kevin Bailey was brought down in the box and referee Joe brown did not hesitate in pointing to the spot.

The St. George’s Colts All-Stars drew level before the break when Delbert Minors scored.

Art Tyrell scored what proved to be the winner for the defending champions midway through the second half as the St. George’s Colts All-Stars came from behind to win.

Corona League All-Star Game

Blue 6 White 4


Lamaul Crofton from Tuff Dogs and Jevon Minors from Lobster Pot scored two goals each to help the Blue team defeated the White team 6-4. Lock N Key’s Chris Anderson and Tuff Dogs’ Aaron Brown added a goal each in the win. The White team got two goals from Flanagan Onions player Gary McRobert and single strikes from Steven Simons from West End and Wayne Clapham from BAA.

Following the match the Corona League held their Prize Presentation, Gary McRobert from the Flanagan Onions was the League’s MVP and the top scorer. McRobert scored 38 goals, while Kevin Hurdle from the Tuff Dogs finished second with 27 goals, Hurdle’s teammate Lamaul Crofton finished with 23 goals and Steve Simons from West End United finished the season with 20 goals.

Tristan Abend from Tuff Dogs was voted the Defender of the Year.

Women's Futsal League

North Village Lady Rams 6 Dandy Stars Brown 9


The upset of the season saw the league leaders North Village Lady Rams lose to the young Dandy Stars Brown team, who were inspired by the leadership of Cheyra Bell, last season's MVP. Without question the best technical team in the league, Dandy Stars Brown outclassed the reigning champions and led 5 - 2 at half-time. The North Village Lady Rams mounted a comeback in the second-half, but were unable to close the gap. Dandy Stars Brown was led by 3 goals from Zahra Gibbons, while Cheyra Bell and Jada Samuels both scored twice, Leah Smith and Jahziyah Samuels added a goal each.

LeiLanni Nesbeth was top scorer for North Village Lady Rams with 3 goals, while Shuntae Todd scored twice and Kyla Ramatar scored once, the North Village Lady Rams loss throws the league wide open.

Hamilton Parish 2 Dandy Stars Gold 12

Dandy Stars Gold overwhelmed Hamilton Parish and led 5 - 0 at half-time. HPWC's goalkeeper CarolAnne Wade switched to attacker in the second-half and scored 2 goals, but Dandy Stars Gold scored 7 more to win 12 - 2. Dandy Stars Gold was led by Cleshaunay Darrell-Virgil's 4 goals, while Dante Allen scored a hat-trick. Rayni Maybury and Atiya Symonds scored twice and Kashintae Fox scored once.

Somerset Hurricanes 7 Young Men Social Club Lady Bluebirds 0

Another one-sided game saw the Somerset Hurricanes lead 6 - 0 at half-time. Young Men Social Club Lady Bluebirds were much more effective restricting Somerset Hurricanes to only 1 more goal, but could not score any goals to make it a more competitive game. Eva Frazzoni was top scorer for the Somerset Hurricanes with 3 goals, while Deshae Darrell and Sierra Fisher scored twice each.
