With only 100 days to go before the Opening Ceremonies of the NatWest Island games, plans are really gathering at a pace with arrangements being finalized for the 14 sports, which will be held at 15 venues across the island from July 13th until July 19th.
To date 2,000 participants have registered from the 24 Islands including competitors, officials, VIPs and international journalist. Final numbers and details will be known mid-May but so far the biggest team after Bermuda who are expecting 300 athletes, is Guernsey (218), followed by Faroe Island (158), Cayman Islands (145) and the Isle of Wright (136). The smallest team is St. Helena with a team of 9 followed by Alderney with 10.
Out of the 14 sports, the largest competition in the Games will be Athletics (Track & Field), Volleyball (Beach & In-door), Swimming and Football with all taking part over the entire week.
