The Bermuda Bicycle Association’s second Road Race of the season is scheduled for April 7th in Somerset.
Organized by Fast Forward Bicycle Works, the course will start by the Cement Silos in Dockyard and then head to Somerset Village, East Shore Road, Scotts Hill, Railway Trail, left on Beacon Hill and then right on Malabar Road to Dockyard via the Main Road, turning right onto Freeport Drive then proceeding into Dockyard, crossing between the Freeport Restaurant and the Clock Tower, around the Clock Tower (in an clock-wise direction) and back to the start/finish on Freeport Drive.
The course described above in approximately 6.56 miles. The Finishing lap concludes at the Silos and does not include the section into Dockyard, the finishing lap is 5.9 miles.
The Junior B and C short lap start in the same place as the others, heads to main road and then left on Lagoon Road and back around to the main road (Malabar Road), right turn and then back to Dockyard including the section behind the Clock Tower.
The distances by category are:
Adult A: 5 full laps, 1 finishing lap - 38.7 miles
Adult B: 3 laps, 1 finishing lap - 25.6 miles
Adult C, Women & Junior A: 2 laps, 19 miles
Junior B: 3 short laps - 7.6 miles
Junior C: 2 short laps - 5.2 miles
Racing starts at 8:00AM and all riders are asked to be on site by 7:45 so that last minute chip distribution can be finished in time for a punctual start.
All riders are encouraged to pick up their timing chips and race number (if you did not get on last week) at Bicycle Works on Saturday, April 6th between 1pm and 5pm.
