Gabriel Lopes won the title of South American Championship Optimist class which ended in Porto Alegre club Sailboats in Brazil.
Lopes finished second in the competition behind American Shestopalov Ivan, first, was not eligible to win as he belongs to a country not invited to battle for the South American trophy. Clara Vignati won the Women's category.
Peter Dill, Chase Cooper, Ceci Wollmann, Mikey Wollmann and Benn Smith all represented Bermuda.
Cooper finished as the top Bermuda sailor in 10th place in the 144 boat fleet with 108 points.
Ceci Wollmann finished as the 2nd Team Bermuda sailor in 56th place, she was the 13th Female Sailor in the Fleet with 268 points. Mikey Wollmann finished in 76th place with 322 points, while Benn Smith finished in 104th position with 393 points and Peter Dill finished in the 117th spot with 426 points.
