In less than ideal conditions, Joshua Hopwood and his North Greenville Men’s Golf teammates earned the team title in the Cherokee Valley Invitational, while Danny Dippel defeated teammate Josh ONeal in a playoff to claim the Individual Tournament victory.
Through strong winds and icy temperatures, North Greenville shot a combined score of 314-298-612 to record a 23-stroke victory over second place Limestone College (324-311-635).
Tri-Count College (316-323-639) finished third overall, while Brevard College (320-323-653) and Mars Hill College (324-325-649) finished fourth and fifth overall in the team standings.
After shooting identical two-day scores the North Greenville teammates Dippel (72-74-146) and ONeal (74-72-146) were forced into a playoff to determine the individual champion. Senior Dippel prevailed and took home his first victory of the 2013 season.
North Greenville’s Tucker MacDonald recorded his second straight Top 5 finish, shooting a two-round score of 82-75-157 to tie for fifth overall, while Sam Goodnight (86-77-163) finished tied for 20th in his first tournament of the year. Mac Bradley rounded out the individual scores for North Greenville with a score of 86-89-175 to finish 43rd overall. North Greenville’s Jacob Harris earned a tie for 10th place with a score of 78-82-160 and Hopwood shot 87-77-164 to tie for 25th. Chase Hawkins (83-84-167) and Ognjen Radovic (87-80-167) tied for 29th place, while Austin Green (87-83-170) and Lucas Polin (86-84-170) tied for 37th overall.
