Tucker Tournament MVP IslandStats.com The Bermuda Cricket Board confirmed that last night ICC Americas awarded Janeiro Tucker with MVP for the ICC Americas Division 1 Twenty20 Tournament.
Tucker finished second in both the batting and bowling and took seven catches (two more than any other player).
Malachi Jones was awarded Best Bowler of the Tournament after claiming thirteen wickets along with Tucker and Sauid Drepaul from Suriname.
It was Jones’ superior bowling average that clinched him the award.
Lloyd Fray, the President of the Bermuda Cricket Board said, "To qualify is a major achievement in itself, but, to do it in a manner that garnered not only six man of the match awards and our bowlers and batsmen dominating the averages speaks volumes for how well this team played. Obviously the investment in the tour to Barbados has paid dividends."
"The World T20 affords six positions to Associate and Affiliate nations so we have a realistic opportunity in November to qualify for another World Cup. I am very happy to congratulate and recognize that efforts and performances of the squad and the support staff."
Bermuda and USA, who claimed the other Americas spot, will join hosts UAE, Papua New Guinea and the six other winners from the remaining regional qualifiers to battle it out with top Associate Nations - Afghanistan, Canada, Ireland, Namibia, Netherlands and Scotland - for a spot in next year's ICC World Twenty20.
