As we countdown to the 2013 CARIFTA Swimming Championships in Jamaica, www.islandstats.com will be spotlighting the Athletes who will represent Bermuda. Today with we highlight Dejan Welllman, Born April 6th, 1995.
Q. How did you first get involved in Swimming?
A. I first got involved in swimming when my mother decided that it would be a good idea for me to swim.
Q. Did you have a particular swimming idol?
A. I didn’t have an idol at first but my idol now is Cullen Jones.
Q. When did you realize that you wanted to keep swimming?
A. I realize that I wanted to keep swimming once I felt that I was extremely good at it.
Q. What would you describe as your strongest discipline?
A. My strongest discipline right now is attending practice on a regular basis.
Q. Which do you feel needs the most improvement?
A. I feel my Breaststroke need the most improvement.
Q. What one moment in Swimming to date are you most proud of?
A. I am most proud of my moment when I won the Trunk Island swim on September 23, 2012; which 112 swimmers took part in this event.
Q. What are your goals for 2013?
A. My goal is to qualify for finals in Carifta 2013.
Q. Can you give an insight into an average week of training for you?
A. I train six or seven sessions per week.
Q. Have you seen the new 50 meter pool at the National Sports Center?
A. No, I have not seen the 50 meter pool, but would like to have a look at it.
Q. What do you do when you’re not swimming?
A. I work out to get stronger for swimming.
Q. You are the president of BASA for one day, what drastic changes do you make?
A. I would not make any changes as I think that things are just great as they are.
