Day 5 of the Digicel National Squash Championships going on at the Bermuda Squash Racquets Association Club saw the Semi-Finals Rounds set in the Ladies and Men’s Open Division.
In the Ladies Quarter Finals, number four seed Susie Lacey was unable to go in her match against Liz Martin, this after experiencing swelling in her ankle making it difficult to push off, while in the battle of youth against experience college star Rachel Barnes defeated Denise Kyme 11-7, 11-7, 12-10.
In the Men’s Open Division Quarter Final matchup between Micah Franklin and Noah Browne provided entertainment for the large crowd on hand with some very physical play, Browne won the first set 11-9, but current tour player Franklin ran off three consecutive victories 11-5, 11-4, 11-3, meanwhile D’Vario Thompson gave everyone a scare in his match against Nick Kyme, Thompson lay motionless on the floor after crashing into the wall try to return a shot, Thompson was able to get back on his feet after a few minutes, but he was unable to hold off Kyme who advanced 11-7, 11-9, 11-4.
