The two day Regatta featured 420’s, Flying Junior, Laser and Laser Radial Fleets all took to the water.
It was a long day in Annapolis for the first day of the 2013 Truxtun Umsted Regatta. Fortunately, the rainy forecast for the day proved incorrect, but unfortunately so did the wind forecast for 5-10 all day. PRO Kyle Assad and his team of Midshipmen brought the fleet out into the river on three different occasions throughout the day, starting and abandoning four races as the wind never filled in for long enough to get anything done.
Sailing was postponed until 9:45 on the second day to allow for protest and redress hearings from previous day's racing. After hearing protests, the fleet was sent out on Annapolis Harbor and racing resumed in a 12 to 15 knot Easterly breeze which faded to around 4 to 5 knots by the end of the day. Eight races were completed in all four divisions for a total of 12 on the weekend.
Hutchings’ Tufts University finished 5th overall with 412 points, while Greenslade’s St. Mary’s College of Maryland finished 8th with 447 points.
Sailing in the 420 A Division Greenslade and his crew Katherine Gluskin finished 8th with 106 points, while Hutchings and his crew Kathleen Kwasniak finished 10th in the Flying Junior B Division with 119 point.
