As we countdown to the 2013 CARIFTA Games in The Bahamas, www.islandstats.com will be spotlighting the Athletes who will represent Bermuda. Today with we highlight Tiara DeRosa, Born May 2nd, 1998.
Q. How did you first get involved in Track and Field? A. I first got involved in middle school at TN Tatem. The gym teachers, Mrs. Robinson and Mr. Eullar, saw the potential in me.
Q. Did you have a particular Track idol? A. My dad was a Record Holder for Shot Put and Discus in high school.
Q. When did you realize that you wanted Compete Internationally? A. I realized I want to compete when I came first in discus and shot put in interschool sports. Everyone was telling me I had the potential to qualify for the 2012 Carifta games.
Q. What would you describe as your strongest discipline? A. Discus is my strongest discipline
Q. Which do you feel needs the most improvement? A. I need to improve my technique for shot put.
Q. What one moment in your Sport to date are you most proud of? A. Qualifying for shot put on the first heat for the BNAA for 2013 Carifta game. Q. What are your goals for the rest of 2013? A. Bringing home a metal from Carifta, and hopefully to qualify for another international track meet
Q. Can you give an insight into an average week of training for you? A. I am training every day two days at the Olympic club and two days at the track, nights home I watch videos on my events Q. Did you compete in the 2012 CARIFTA Games at the National Sports Center? A. Yes
Q. If yes what do you think about it? A. It was a great eye opener experience
Q. What do you do when you’re not taking part in Track and Field? A. I play net ball and saxophone
Q. You are the President of BNAA for one day, what drastic changes do you make? A. If I was President I would not change anything.
