As we countdown to the 2013 CARIFTA Swimming Championships in Jamaica, www.islandstats.com will be spotlighting the Athletes who will represent Bermuda. Today with we highlight Alyssa Paynter, Born March 6th, 2001.
Q. How did you first get involved in Swimming? A. My friend started swimming and wanted me to do it with her.
Q. Did you have a particular swimming idol? A. I didn’t have one when I started, but now I look up to Lisa Blackburn.
Q. When did you realize that you wanted to keep swimming? A. When my friend quit and I was making new friends.
Q. What would you describe as your strongest discipline? A. Freestyle is my best stroke.
Q. Which do you feel needs the most improvement? A. My Butterfly needs the most improvement.
Q. What one moment in Swimming to date are you most proud of? A. I am most proud of when I got my first ‘A’ time in 50 Freestyle.
Q. What are your goals for 2013? A. I want to get my first ‘AA” time.
Q. Can you give an insight into an average week of training for you? A. I train 6 days a week, 1 ½ hours 5 days, and 2 hours 1 day a week.
Q. Have you seen the new 50 meter pool at the National Sports Center? A. Yes
Q. If yes what do you think about it? A. I think that it looks really cool, and I will be excited to swim in it.
Q. What do you do when you’re not swimming? A. I play Football, Basketball and Netball.
Q. You are the president of BASA for one day, what drastic changes do you make? A. I would make the bathrooms at BASA pool better, and paint the pool green.
