Zaire Simmons and her Virginia State University Women’s Tennis teammates suffered their first defeat of the season by the Shaw University 5-4 at the Hawks Tennis Complex on the campus of Chowan University.
The Virginia State University came up short in the first two singles matches. No.1 singles, Amanda Spencer lost 6-2, 6-1 and Simmons fell in straight sets 6-1, 6-0 to Brittany Uzzell.
Playing in the number 2 Doubles spot Simmons and her partner Amanda Spencer went down 8 – 4 to Claudia Silva and Gislaine Farias.
