Forward Robert Earnshaw scored twice early to help Reggie Lambe and his Toronto FC teammates were able to hang on for a 2-1 win in their home opener against Sporting Kansas City at Rogers Centre.

Earnshaw capitalized on an errant back pass by MLS Defender of the Year Matt Besler to score after three minutes and the Welshman buried a penalty kick to give Toronto an early 2-0 lead. Although Sporting KC designated player Claudio Bieler pulled one back late, Toronto sealed their first win in 15 league matches dating back to the 2012 season and the first in Ryan Nelsen's tenure.

Nahki Wells

Substitute Alan Connell rescued a 1-1 draw for Nahki Wells and his Bradford City teammates in the seventh minute of stoppage time to deny Aldershot victory and keep their outside play-off hopes alive.

The home side was heading for defeat when Terrell Forbes tripped winger Zavon Hines and Connell scored from the spot.

Bradford would have been a couple of goals to the good in the first 11 minutes but for Aldershots `keeper Jamie Young, who made two superb diving saves to deny Hines, before then making an equally good stop to tip a 20-yard shot from skipper Gary Jones over the crossbar four minutes before half-time.

However, the visitors, who have now gone six matches unbeaten, shook the home side by taking the lead against the run of play a minute before the interval.

Bradford defender Rory McArdle was booked for a foul on Aldershot's on-loan striker Paul McCallum and the home defense failed to clear Kieron Cadogan's 25-yard free-kick which flashed into the far corner of the net.

Bradford dominated the second half but were denied by a resolute visiting defense until their last-gasp penalty equalizer.

Wells was replaced in the 61st minute by Garry Thompson a move that was ruled Tactical.

Jonte Smith

Notts County extended their unbeaten run to seven games but their goalless draw at Crawley did little to boost either sides' play-off hopes.

Crawley created more clear-cut chances and Mike Jones was wastefully off target at the far post from Mustapha Dumbuya's cross.

Jamie Proctor's cross was then deflected on to his own crossbar by County defender Haydn Hollis in the 69th minute.

Crawley threatened early on when a goal-bound 20-yard shot by former Swansea striker Proctor was turned round the post by visiting goalkeeper Bartosz Bialkowski.
