Mount Saint Vincent began the game as the stronger start with a 10-7 lead four minutes in.
Mount Allison continued to struggle as Mount Saint Vincent had a 18-12 lead with two minutes left in the quarter, resulting in a 20-16 lead for Mount Saint Vincent after one quarter of play.
The game remained fairly tight in the second quarter, but Mount Saint Vincent were unable to contain the offensive rebounding of Ben Chisholm but Mount Saint Vincent continued to keep the Mount Allison at bay on the scoreboard.
This resulted in 30-24 advantage for Mount Saint Vincent going into the first half break.
The third quarter began much like the first quarter began as Mount Saint Vincent stretched their lead to ten points.
However, Mount Allison still had lots of fight left in them as the momentum shifted their way towards the end of the quarter, continually cutting into Mount Saint Vincent’s lead forcing several turnovers.
The fourth quarter was a closely fought contest, but Mount Saint Vincent were able to maintain their close to double digit lead with three minutes to go.
This resulted in Mount Allison going seven minutes in the final quarter without scoring.
But with a minute left Mount Allison hit a three to make the score 58-54, getting them the closest that they had ever been to Mount Saint Vincent in the second half.
