Ashley Yearwood

Ashley Yearwood and her Denison University Women’s Swimming teammates North Coast Athletic Conference Championship reign continued as they captured their fifth-consecutive conference title at the C.T. Branin Natatorium in Canton, Ohio. After 20 events, Denison totaled 1,654 points, while rival Kenyon finished in second 49.5 points behind.

Heading into the final event of the championship, the Women’s 400 Yard Freestyle relay, all Denison needed to do was avoid being disqualified and they would walk away with NCAC hardware for the sixth time in program history. However, the Denison foursome of Yearwood, Morgan Nuess, Mary Van Leuven and Alyssa Swanson wouldn't settle for anything less than success.

The Denison group trailed rival Kenyon by 16 hundredths of a second when the anchor legs hit the pool. Not to be robbed of her 18th conference title, Swanson put Denison ahead by four tenths of a second at the 50 split. Fighting exhaustion from the three-day championship meet, the senior stretched out to touch the wall seven thousandths of a second before Kenyon's Hillary Yarosh. The time of 3:25.84 was an NCAA automatic qualifying time.

Yearwood also recorded a NCAA B Standard time during the Women’s 100 Yard Freestyle, where she finished 2nd clocking a time of 51.48.

Roy-Allan Burch

Roy-Allan Burch took to the pool for second day of competition during the Arena Grand Prix Series in Orlando, Florida.

Burch competing at the YMCA Aquatic Center swam the 47th fastest Men’s 100 Long Course Meter Freestyle time of 54.62 during the Preliminaries, his time was well behind his personal best of 51.01.
