The Bermuda Football Association announced National Academy team camps for the February 11-15th, 2013 school break as a continuation of the initiative started in the fall 2012. Once again we have partnered with ABC Football and Next Generation Valencia CF to create a syllabus specific for the National Academy program. The theme of the camp is, “My Position, My Game”, and will deliver to National Academy players and coaches instruction and training that is specific to positions and lines within the team ( Goal Keeper, Defense, Midfield, Attack) and how these lines integrate to develop our teams’ specific “Style of Play”.
Through the support from our National Academy sponsor, Catlin, and by partnering with ABC Football we will have four Spanish coaches from Next Generation Valencia CF working with our coaches and players during the week. The Valencia Foundation, owners of Valencia Football Club , established Valencia Next Generation CF (NGVCF) to help deliver their football philosophy outside of Spain.
We have partnered with NGVCF to help develop and implement a curriculum of player development specific for the Bermuda National Academy program. The content and syllabus for our camps have been designed with close collaboration between the BFA National Academy Director, in consultation with the senior national coach Andrew Bascome, and NGVCF coaches.
We are pleased that we will have these four Spanish coaches on island leading delivery of the camp instruction. Included will be a goal keeping coach from the Valencia Academy in Spain. This will provide a unique opportunity for our goal keepers and goal keeper coaches to receive specialized training and instruction from a professional goal keeping coach.
Due to limitations of field space and coaching personnel for scheduling, the camp for February is targeted toward the 2000, 1999 and 1998 player pools. There will also be a few sessions for the 2001 pool and a women’s select in the evenings. The 1995, 1996, and 1997 player pools will be engaged in separate programming with the Bermuda Brazilian Football School College Festival, also occurring during the week of February 11-15.
We will use two fields during the morning sessions, The BFA Field and the National Sports Center Stadium Field. In the afternoon all sessions will be at the BFA field.
The 2001 boys will have sessions on Mon. and Wed. from 5:00 – 6:30 PM, and their regular session of Friday starting at 5:30 PM. A women’s select will train on Tuesday and Thursday with the Spanish coaches starting at 5PM and will include players from the U17 Girls National Academy.
