Jonte Smith

Scunthorpe battled from behind to secure back-to-back home victories for the first time this season in a 2-1 win against Jonte Smith and his Crawley Town teammates.

Smith replaced for Mathew Sadler in the 86th minute.

The comeback came after former Glanford Park favorite Matt Sparrow had threatened to haunt his old club by firing the visitors in front early in the second half.

Driving forward from midfield, he was left unmarked in the box to pick his spot in the 48th minute after good work down the right by Billy Clarke.

It was the 67th minute before Scunthorpe got themselves back on level terms when midfield man Ryan smashed a shot home from close range after Jones had been able to only half-block an effort from Michael Collins.

After Jamie Proctor had rattled the crossbar for Crawley, it was Scunthorpe who then snatched a 78th-minute winner when centre-back Niall Canavan rose at the far post to head home a left-wing corner from Duffy.

Nahki Wells

Cody McDonald's third goal in four league games since re-joining them on loan from Coventry earned second placed Gillingham their tenth away win of the season, but Nahki Wells and his Bradford City teammates were no pushovers.

Gillingham were second best in a first half of few opportunities. With their Capital One Cup Final against Swansea two weeks away, Bradford were chasing the confidence boost of a first npower League Two win since Boxing Day in their last home game before Wembley - and they created the better openings.

James Hanson headed inches over the bar from Kyel Reid's cross and it needed a superb double save from Stuart Nelson to foil Bradford captain Gary Jones and top scorer Wells.

Bradford keeper Matt Duke didn't have a shot to save until Chris Whelpdale tested him with a low drive after 52 minutes but Bradford City were caught out 12 minutes later. Vastly experienced Deon Burton lobbed the ball over the defence and McDonald fired past the stranded Duke.

Reggie Lambe

Reggie Lambe and his Toronto FC teammates fell short in the opening of the Walt Disney World Pro Soccer Classic, dropping a 1-0 decision to Columbus Crew.

The bigger loss for Toronto could be the absence of goalkeeper Stefan Frei, who returned from an ankle injury, only to leave his first match in nearly a year after taking a boot to the nose during open play.

The goal came at the 30th minute, when Crew’s Brazilian import Glauber got his head to a corner serviced by Argentinean playmaker Federico Higuain. The South Americans combined for the lone strike of the day, though Toronto had chances.

While Columbus enjoyed much of the possession in the first half, Toronto managed quick counter-attacks thwarted by hard fouls.

Toronto introduced a pair of South Americans of its own at restart in Brazilian central midfielder Julio Cesar and winger Nicolas Cabrera, a speedy trialist from Argentina.

The changes sparked Toronto forward. At the 56th minute Cabrera picked out Ashtone Morgan’s run on the left flank. The Canadian’s cross skipped past Braun to find Luis Silva at the far post, his shot stopped by Matt Lampson.

Lambe played 64 minutes of action in the first game of the season.
