Bermuda is now confirmed to participate in the World Youth Netball Championships 2013. Twenty teams are slated to compete in the Under-21 event, but only 19 have been announced.
The Barbados Netball Association (BNA) has not given up hope of a team competing at the 7th World Youth Netball Championships later this year in Scotland.
Barbados Netball Association President Nisha Cummings told MIDWEEKSPORT they contacted the International Federation of Netball Associations (IFNA) after the organizers released the latest list of teams taking part in the August 22 to 31 tournament.
Entries were only accepted by IFNA from National Associations on a first-come, first-served basis. Capacity for the event is set at 20 teams with the option to be added to a waiting list should the maximum level be exceeded.
Entries are now closed. The 20 teams selected for the 2013 Championships are:
Australia, New Zealand, England, Jamaica, South Africa, Fiji, Trinidad and Tobago, Wales, Northern Ireland, Samoa, Scotland, United States of America, Singapore, Namibia, Republic of Ireland, Malta, Israel, Cayman Islands and Bermuda.
From August 22d – 31st, Scotland will welcome the World Youth Netball Championships (WYNC) to Glasgow. These Championships will see the sport of netball showcase its best players at Under 21 level from 20 countries throughout the world.
