Kali Lespere was one of two students playing for the Episcopal High School Girls' Varsity Soccer team who were acknowledged for their superior talent and dedication on the soccer field.
Lespere was appointed team captain of the Bermuda Under-17 Women's National Team in preparation for the team's attempt to qualify for the 2014 FIFA Under-17 Women's World Cup in Costa Rica.
Lespere was also named to the player pool for the Bermuda Under-20 Women's National Team as they begin training for the 2014 FIFA Under-20 Women's World Cup in Canada.
She completed her first season for the Maroon by contributing four goals and two assists and helping the squad reach the semi-finals of the ISL Tournament.
"Lespere is blazing her own path, both on and off the island nation of Bermuda,” remarked Episcopal Girls’ Varsity Soccer Head Coach Doug Homer. “She is firmly entrenched in the EHS community as a scholar-athlete that sets high standards for herself and the teams she contributes to. While greatness is soon on her timeline, I'm delighted that her competitiveness and steadfast commitment to excellence are qualities that have allowed her to be appointed captain of Bermuda's Under-17 National Team. Go for it all, Lespere. We stand behind you."
“Although I've only been at EHS for one season of soccer, Episcopal soccer has, and I’m sure will continue to, helped me improve as a player and a leader,” remarked Lespere. I’m really excited about becoming the captain of the U-17 team, and I hope to help lead my teammates throughout the qualifying process this summer.”
“Recognition of achievement is always a wonderful moment that the individual often cherishes,” commented Homer. “For our two team members who have been honored, I believe that they would be the first to admit that this is often the byproduct of hard work, sacrifice, dedication, and perseverance - all of which are qualities that Lespere embrace as student athletes and members of the EHS community.”
