In Boxing Day Harness Pony Racing at the National Equestrian Center on Vesey Street saw an accident in Heat 4. Lindsay Sousa in the bike of Mr. Indiana was in second place at the start of the race, however the horses forward legs collapsed and the horse tumbled thus forcing the other drivers and horses having to take evasive action, Here Comes Shady with Antwan Edwards was unable to avoid the fallen horse and driver coming into contact with the bike throwing Edwards out of his bike and landing on the hard track.
His horse Here Comes Shady continued around the track as other drivers and medical staff attended to the Edwards, Sousa and Mr. Indiana.
Here Comes Shady made its way around the track at top speed and continued around a second time before being brought under control.
After being checked out by the medical staff of the St. John’s Ambulance, Edwards was released but decided to end his day of racing.
