Bermuda School Sports Federation Select 2 Plantation FC 1
The final game in the 2012 IMG Showcase Cup saw the Bermuda School Sports Federation Select play the second game against Plantation FC.
This game saw Coach Andrew Bascome and his team have the opportunity to seek revenge and pride in the team which had previously beat them 4-1 the day before.
Coach Bascome spoke to his team about character and gave each of his player’s new instructions about roles and responsibilities on the field of play.
The Bermuda Team started very strong and was a lot more direct with their play and purpose. Although Bermuda saw most of the possession in the first twenty minutes early opportunities were again wasted.
Plantation FC relied on tactics from the first match between these two teams and again bombarded the Bermuda box with high long crosses into the penalty area. Unfortunately miscommunication allowed the Florida based team head the ball in from close range to grab a 1-0 lead.
The Bermuda team were rattled and upset with the early lead which the Plantation Team had taken, however Bermuda soon took charge of the game and a smart left sided cross by Chae Brangman was met with a quick run from Demetre Daniels who efficiently placed the ball low and to the left side of the goal keeper to level the score at 1-1.
The goal was perfectly timed as soon as the whistle had restarted the game the referee blew for half-time.
Coach Bascome was pleased with Bermuda’s grit and determination and made a few adjustments at the half. The Bermuda team never looked back and with every minute of the game gained confidence.
Calin Maybury’s deliveries into the box from set plays or corners caused confusion in the Plantation box.
Bermuda looked confident in going forward and in the last few minutes of the game Machi Battersbee rose at the near post of a right sided corner kick and glanced the ball home for the winner.
Again only a few minutes were played and the game reached full-time, a result which was well-earned and deserved from the Bermuda Schools Select team.
