The Bermuda School Sports Federation Select Team (BSSF) played their first game at the IMG College Showcase 2012, the BSSF Select team was matched against FC Florida which are the second ranked team in the state of Florida.

The first ten minutes of the game saw a frantic pace where both teams adjusting with the high level competition and the increase in performance needed for a college showcase event.

Early chances were presented to Chae Brangman and Demetre Daniels after some penetrating runs though the opponents defence, but unfortunately the final outcome did not beat the goalkeeper.

Caldre Burgess skillfully tormented the left side of the defence but yet again, early chances were not maximized. Very few chances came to FC Florida however the few they got were dealt with efficiently by the Bermuda back line and some fine close shot saves by Jordan Casarano.

Once Bermuda had settled, the Senior School Select Team saw most of the possession, switching the ball from side to side and outwitting their opponents. Unfortunately Bermuda could not capitalize on their possession and with only three minutes to halftime FC Florida were awarded a free kick on the left side of the box.

With what seemed to be a poorly taken free kick a FC Florida attacker met the ball and calmly side footed the ball past the Varsity CedarBridge goalkeeper.

With the half time talk coach Andrew Bascome made a few adjustments within the midfielder area and focused on dealing with roles and responsibilities of set plays.

Calin Maybury came into the game and made an early impression with his distribution and interceptions which allowed Mikal Simmons to move more freely down the right side.

Brangman and Daniels were a constant threat to the FC Florida back line. However, Bermuda fell short in securing an equalizer.

With the Bermuda team pushing forward, FC Florida capitalized and stole another short range effort to increase their lead to 2-0.

Bermuda continued to press forward in search of a goal and did so with a well-directed cross to Brangman, the strong CedarBridge forward controlled the ball on his chest and turned to fire a left footed shot passed the FC Florida keeper.

This seemed to ignite the Bermuda team and they pinned their opponents in their half for long periods. With only less than ten minutes of the game left, Bermuda pushed and pushed for an equalizer but whilst chasing the game FC Florida once again capitalized on a two fast break goals resulting in the final score Bermuda School Select 1 – FC Florida 4.
