The 60th playing of the Bermuda Goodwill Pro-Am Golf Tournament started today at the islands golf courses. 50 teams from overseas have traveled to Bermuda to compete this week.
Junior Men’s Team Division
Hidden Valley Golf Club shot a first round gross score of 67 at the Tuckers Point Club and shares the lead with National Golf Club “B” and Pine Brook Country Club both having shot 67 at the Riddells Bay Golf Club.
National Golf Club “B” at the moment also has the lead in the net division with a score of 59 at the Riddell’s Bay Golf Club. Mississauga Country Club “A” played at the Tuckers Point Club and has a net score of 60 and is tied with Kings Riding Country Club who shot a net score of 60 at the Mid Ocean Club.
Senior Men’s Team Division
Brookside Country Club “A” played at Tuckers Point Club today and shot a gross score of 64 and have a one shot lead after the first round. Par 5 Club take second place with a gross score of 65 at the Riddells Bay Golf Club. In 3rd is the team of Mississauga Country Club “B” with a score of 66 at the Tuckers Point Club.
Net scores of 58, 59 and 60 at the Tuckers Point Club today are the low rounds of the day coming from Bellwood Golf Club, Brookside Country Club, and Brick Landing Plantation respectively.
Ladies Team Division
Tied for the early lead in the gross division are the Ladies from Riddell’s Bay Golf Club and the Ladies from the London Hunt Club with scores of 65. Mid Ocean Ladies are in 3rd after a score of 70 at their home club. .
The Riddell’s Bay Ladies took advantage of starting at their home club today and fired a net score of 57 to take the early lead. Right behind them are the ladies from London Hunt Club with a net score of 60, and in 3rd are the Toronto Golf Club team with a net score of 65.
Professional Men’s Division
Local Professional Chris Smith (Par 5 Club) and visiting professional Ryan Breidegam (Brookside Country Club “A”), have the first round lead in the Junior Men’s Professional division both with 21 points. Smith played his first round at the Riddell’s Bay Golf Club while Breidegam played at Tuckers Point Club. Matthew Sita (Nassau Country Club “B”) is 3 points back with 18 after his round at the Port Royal Golf Club.
Professional Senior Men’s Division
In the Senior Men’s Professional division, past winner Scott Spence, (Lakes Country Club), has a 1 point lead over Danny Mijovic, (King’s Riding Country Club). Spence was able to go around the Mid Ocean Club with 18 points while Mijovic had a steady 17 points at Mid Ocean. Playing Riddell’s Bay Golf Club, Ted Griffin was able to make 16 points to take the 3rd place position.
Professional Ladies Division
Johnalee Marshall from the Toronto Country Club has taken the first round lead after having 14 points at the Riddell’s Bay Golf Club. Wendy Shackelton from London Hunt Club sits in second place after having 13 points at the Riddell’s Bay Club and Ann Carroll from Lampton Country Club made 12 points at Mid Ocean.
