Micah Franklin traveled to Veracruz, Mexico for a 5K PSA Tournament the Proteva Sports Squash Open, Franklin went down in his First Round match against Mario Yannez from Mexico 3 – 1.
Yannez won the first and second set by the same score 11-3, 11-3, Franklin would then win the third set 11-8, however Yannez would close out the match with an 11-5 fourth set win. Franklin said, “I played for the first time in altitude using an altitude ball and did not feel comfortable. I couldn’t find my length and my opponent did a great job moving me around the court, I wish him the best of luck in the next round.”
“It is back to the drawing board for me as I am still searching for that breakthrough win,” continued Franklin.
Franklin set himself a 2012 goal of reaching the PSA World Tour top 200 with a world ranking of number 193rd.
Franklin started the tour in March 2012 with a ranking of 379 and in 9 months he has risen up 186 spots.
