Just as this game kicked off at the National Sports Center the heavens opened, however with a spot in the Plate Final up for grabs the two teams went to battle. Ten minutes into the match France went in front as Emile Ntamack went over for a Try, while Eric Rosalen kicked the Conversion for the 7 – 0 lead.
Following a very hard and steady rain shower, France doubled the lead in the Second Half when Greg Tutard scored and Rosalen kicked the Conversion as France advanced to the Plate Final.
Argentina 7 South Africa 17 Argentina and South Africa battle on a slippery Sports Center Field The defending champions Argentina came into the game with a positive attitude, however South Africa would weather not only the rain but the Argentina attack. In the 3rd minute South Africa went ahead when Neil Cole scored a Try, and when Percy Montgomery kicked the Conversion he made the score 7 – 0.
In the 25th minute and interception by South Africa’s Egon Second score a Try, Montgomery missed the Conversion as the score remained 12-0 Cole added his second Try of the game to give South Africa a 17-0 lead. Lucas Boras scored the lone Argentina Try in the 68th minute, Bart Van der Guoter scored the Conversion making the final score 17 – 7.
