After opening up the season with a pair of victories, some early season injuries slowed down Alexis Bean and her St. John’s University Women’s Cross Country teammates which resulted in seventh place finish overall at the Metropolitan Championships at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx.
"We were disappointed in our overall placing but our team has been battling a rash of injuries that has not allowed us to get our full team on the field," said St. John’s University head coach Jim Hurt. "Our ladies were fearless in their efforts to perform but their runs today were certainly hampered by the injury bug. Fortunately we have some time to get healthy for our Fall Festival next weekend and the BIG EAST Championship at the end of the month."
After placing first on the team in the season's initial two races, Bean was the St. John’s University second finisher with a time of 20:03.33 placing her 33rd overall.
