The Bermuda National Rugby team have trained, this followed after they travelled about an hour out of Asuncion to a small rural primary school to hand out clothes, shoes and rugby gear.
Team Bermuda were very warmly received and immediately handed out the items to a great deal of excitement. A few photos for the Bermuda corporate sponsor Amlin was taken and then the Bermuda team headed out onto a very rough playing field for some games and drills with the kids.
The team demonstrated some skills and despite the language barrier the kids copied. The line outs were a popular attraction as 5 year olds were launched skywards by the 6'7 Dave Rouke. The kids broke up into various groups that were led by rugby players and played a range of games. Team Bermuda found it particularly difficult catching the agile 4 year olds in a game of bulldog!
Both the kids and the Bermuda team had an absolute blast. The Paraguayan kids were extremely grateful for the gifts and the time spent with them, the team were excellent ambassadors for Bermuda and it was a wonderful opportunity for the team to give back to the sport they love.
