A Life University team that combines top players from their club squad who came second in the Super League in the USA and their undergraduate collegiate squad faced off against the Bermuda National Team in Marietta, Georgia.
The game was used as a fall warm-up for Life and a run-out for Bermuda in advance of a Rugby World Cup qualifier in two weeks.
Bermuda went down 45 - 5 this after they found themselves 35 – 5 down in the first half. Bermuda had a huge improvement in the second half as they made adjustments. This was the first competitive game for the Bermuda National squad since the June 23rd Caribbean win.
Bermuda will be in a RWC qualification game September 29th, against Paraguay in Paraguay.
Neville Zuill scored the lone Try for the Bermuda National squad in the first half.
"This is the closest they can get to a good warm-up game and we were happy to have them," said Life Director of Rugby Dan Payne. "We wanted to give them a tough game and we'll be cheering for them when they play Paraguay."
"We wanted to win the game, but win or lose, the key thing is to get as many guys some live-fire experience," added Payne.
