Olympic Silver Medalist Javier Gomez of Spain fought off oppressive heat and a spirited effort by crowd favorite Hunter Kemper today to win the 2012 Hy-Vee Triathlon 5150 Elite Cup US Championships and take home $171,000 in prize money.
Kent Richardson finished 161st overall and was 4th in the 50-54 Age Group clocking a overall time of 2:18:58.
Richardson covered the 1.5 kilometer Swim in a time of 25:21, before clocking 1:02:41 on the 40 kilometer Bike Course and then covered the 10 kilometer Run Course in 44:39.
Richardson said, “I was a little disappointed with my Swim as I went off course, but I had a strong ride on the Bike Course was were I managed to pull things back. The Run Course was just as good as the bike, but overall I had a good event.”
