Mayho's France Experience Update #4

IslandStats.com
Dominique Mayho has offered comments on his France experience thus far. Mahyo is spending two months with Philippe Mauduit, training and racing with the club UCC Vivonne. This week the young rider completed 431km of riding in more than 15 hours.

Mayho said, “Another week has gone by already, I guess it's true that time flies by when you're having fun. The highlight of this week was that I saw my first pro race. I went out for my ride on the road that I train on most. It's out in the country side of Poitiers. If I'm lucky, on a good day I'll see two cars in three hours on that road. So it's really safe and good for training. As I was riding I saw people on the side of the road, I didn't think much of it but the further I went the more people I saw and some were cheering for me. At the top of one of the hills there were pro team cars. It was the feed zone. I waited for a while than the race came through. One of the Europcar guys threw his bottle to me. It was the tour de Poitou-Charentes. Luke Durbridge of Greenedge won the overall.”

“This week I had one race, it was the hardest yet. I raced with the Category One guys. There is a big jump from Category 2 to Category 1, they are so much fitter. After about an hour or so of the race I just couldn't keep up anymore. The average speed was 44kph while I was in the race. It was a good experience and showed me where I need to be, later this week I will be racing with the National Elite guys. They are the level just under full pro,” concluded Mayho.
