The Orioles and Red Sox will meet in the YAO Cal Ripken Rookie League Championship at Kindley Field beginning at 3:30pm after they won their Semi-Final Play-Off matches.
The morning game saw the 2nd place Orioles play the 4th place Tigers for the right to play in next week’s championship. The Tigers jumped out to an early 7-2 lead only to have the Orioles scratch back for an 8-7 win.
The afternoon game pitted the 5th place Red Sox playing against the first place Phillies. The Red Sox came out on top in the upset. The Red Sox had timely fielding, turning two double plays. Their bats came alive with 11 runs to the Phillies 4. Matt Ingelman, Marco Stirling and Brad Haveriku were standouts on defense. Kaelin Paynter and Sam Resnik led the Red Sox offense. Phillies were led by strong defense of Armand Foy.
