The Bermuda National Rugby team arrived back in Bermuda at the LF Wade International Airport a tired and weary bunch, but very happy as they will now turn their attention to qualifying for the Rugby 2015 World Cup.
As we reported yesterday, Bermuda defeated the Bahamas 16-8 at the Winton Rugby Pitch in the Bahamas in an overly physical game in 90+ degrees and similar humidity.
Jahan Cedenio scored Bermuda’s Try with Ian Henderson adding 11 points with the boot with 2 Penalties, a drop kick and a Conversion.
Bermuda will now play Guyana in the Caribbean Final and World Cup Qualifier for England 2015.
Upon their arrival back to Bermuda coach Lawrence Bird said, “We knew going in it was going to be a very physical game and I am just proud of the way that the boys kept their composure as it could have easily gotten out of hand.”
“We now have to turn our attention to Guyana knowing that a victory will see Bermuda qualify for the 2015 World Cup,” concluded Bird.
Henderson said, “After letting a few kicks get away in the Cayman Islands game, I wanted to make sure that the scoreboard continued to tick over keeping us into the game.”
Henderson went on to say, “Once we got the lead I had all the confidence that we could hold on and come away with the goods.”
Substitute Cedenio who scored Bermuda’s lone Try was very happy to score his first International Try for Bermuda, “It was one of those things, I was able to fight my way through and score over the line and help Bermuda advance, I am just so happy that we now have the chance to qualify for the World Cup and the next lot of work begins now.”
