The YAO Rookie 7-9 year olds League First Round Playoffs were held at Kindley Field for the Rookie Division.
The first game saw the 3rd place Tigers playing the 6th place Giants with the Tigers emerging 6-0 winners.
Players of the game for the Tigers were Kaaron Brown and Alex Downey who combined to score the winning run. Berown hit a line drive to the fence and Downey drove him in with a sharp single to left.
The second game saw the 4th place Red Sox playing the 5th place Marlin. The Marlins struck early jumping out to a 3-0 lead. The Red Sox came back with key hits by Kaelin Painter, Matt Ingelman and Marco Stirling. The Red Sox outlasted the Marlin with a final score of 9-7.
Next week the 1st place Phillies will be playing the Red Sox and the Tigers will be playing the Orioles. The Marlins and Giants will be playing a consolation game. The Championship game will be Saturday June 23rd at 3:30.
