It was long and tough day for the Phillies as this was their second came of the day. Starting pitchers, Evan Hughes of the Phillies and KJ Moreno of the Marlins, battled back and forth in the first two innings. Moreno was forced to leave the game in the bottom of the 2nd with 1 out with a blister on his throwing hand.
Hughes continued on and ended up striking out 6 Marlins over the course of 3 innings. With the strikeouts, the Marlins bats where hard to silence as they racked up 19 runs on 20 hits. Gaps seemed to almost taunt the Phillies during the game as every ball seems to find one.
Corey Simas of the Marlins would be the player of the game going 5 for 5 with 6 R.B.I.'s.
Simas would also to pitch in the 6th inning and recorded 3 strikeouts.
