Karl Wilson as crowned the New Bermuda Open Singles Snooker Champion following his win over Steven Bremar in the Final.
The Championship was played at Spanish Point Boat Club with Wilson walking away with the singles trophy by defeating defending champion Bremar in four straight games.
Wilson got off to a flying start by taking advantage of Bremar in the first game 76 – 23. The next game would see Bremar fight back with Wilson pooling the black ball to win 51 – 46. Bremar would lose form again in the third game and Wilson would win 68 – 37. The balls ran in Wilson’s favor in the fourth and final game and he would close the match out with a convincing win of 55-9 after Bremar conceded.
Meanwhile in a close fought battle Warwick Workman’s Club One defeated Watford Sports Club One to win the Island Construction Cup.
In a race to three games up first for Warwick Workman’s Club One saw veteran Courtland Furbert defeat Maurice Hawkins 68 - 22. Zane DeSilva would put Watford Sports Club One on the board by winning his game against Gary Bascombe 63 – 49 to tie the match.
Next up saw Ray DeSilva give Watford Sports Club One the lead by defeating James Talbot 67 -43. The fourth game saw Keith Smith defeat Steven Bremar 54 – 49 to draw the Warwick Workman’s Club level.
With a tie between the two clubs all the names went back in the hat to determine the tie breaker. Zane DeSilva and Gary Bascombe’s names came out to play each other for a second time. Bascombe would prove to be too much for DeSilva in the tie breaker eventually winning the game 53 -12.
