Pearson and Crew Spend Time in Florida

IslandStats.com
Shelly Pearson and her Harvard University Rowing Crews teammates recently returned from Bradenton, Florida, where they spent 10 days training on the Manatee River at the newly built Ft. Hamer Boathouse.

The trip, Women's heavyweight and lightweight crews, has become an important annual event for the teams. The time spent on the water improves fitness and technique, and provides an invaluable jump start to the spring racing season. The student-athletes are now back on campus for the start of spring classes.

Typically the Charles River is frozen at this time of year, but the crews returned to a welcome and unusual surprise: an early thaw.

Racing begins on March 24 for the Radcliffe heavyweight women, here on the Charles River. The team will compete in the Beanpot Regatta vs. Northeastern, Boston University, MIT and Boston College.
