Bermuda defeated St. Vincent and Grenadines to win the Bronze Medal at the Eastern Caribbean Volleyball Association inaugural 2011 Junior Women Championships in St. Martin.
There was “No room for era” was the mantra circulating through the heads of players from Bermuda and St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Cognizant of the treasures of winning both teams reverted to the proven fundamentals of passing, blocking and serving and hitting.
Bermuda Team Captain Khiandra Pearmon Watson said “We took a positive attitude and opted to stick together, it feels great to have earned a medal”.
Coach Donna Smith opined her team was very relaxed and enjoyed the game they played. She further stated the tournament was awesome and the experience will be very valuable for the athletes.
St. Vincent’s Coach Martin Eardly stated “Bermuda played to better than we had expected and we were over confident as we had beaten them earlier. However they are many positives we can take from this tournament such as our passing and service abilities. I am very proud of my team.”
