IslandStats.com
Although the Bermuda Cricket Board have not commented on the situation, Islandstats.com asked the two Cup Match Clubs Presidents their opinion on the following:

Both Champions St. George’s Cricket Club and Challengers Somerset Cricket Club Cup Match Teams may have a new look this year, with the Bermuda National Squad scheduled to leave Bermuda the day after The Classic to play Kenya in the Inter Continental Cup in Canada, the players may have to make a choice, COUNTRY or CUP MATCH.

In all 17 players that played in the Cup Match Classic last year are currently involved with the National Program, Delyone Borden, Clay Smith, Lionel Cann, Ryan Steede, Stefan Kelly, George O’Brien and OJ Pitcher all played for St. George’s, while Stephen Outerbridge, Kwame Tucker, Saleem Mukuddem, Azeem Pitcher, Janeiro Tucker, Hasan Durham, Dwayne Leverock, Jacobi Robinson, and Kevin Hurdle all played for Somerset, both Dean Minors and Irving Romaine did not play.

St. George’s Cricket Club President Mr. Neil Paynter said, “ I hope that it don’t come down to choices at the last minute, but if it does I would recommend that the players choose Country”. “If the players can use Cup Match as a warm up before taking on Kenya, I would hope that’s what will happen”. Paynter went on to say, “My hope is that if the Bermuda Cricket Board decides that the players can’t play they inform the club early so that both clubs have a chance to have a look at other players in the hunt for a Cup Match place”, Paynter finished by saying, “It is something the two club will discuss when they meet later this week.

Somerset Cricket Club President Mr. Richard Scott said, “The decision to play will impact the players and not the club”, Scott went on to say, “I would hope the players if given a choice Country or Cup Match, they would pick Country”. “I would be willing to sit down and speak with the Somerset Cup Match players to discuss what they want to do, and let them know how I feel about the situation”, said Scott. “I would hope a discussion could take place early so that everyone is on the same page”, said Scott.
