Reggie Lambe’s Ipswich Town will play Millwall away in the third round of the Carling Cup, this will be Ipswich’s fifth successive away draw in the competition, the eighth in both cups and the seventh since Roy Keane took over as boss.
Meanwhile second half goals from Tamás Priskin and league debutant Jason Scotland saw Ipswich to a comfortable victory over a poor Bristol City side at Portman Road. Town had hit the bar three times before the Hungarian struck the opener and the winning margin could have been much more comfortable.
Back to the draw, midfielder Liam Trotter moved to Millwall from Ipswich during the summer, while striker Kevin Lisbie is on loan with Millwall for the season. Another former Ipswich player, full-back/midfielder Scott Barron, signed a new three-year-deal with Kenny Jackett's club this week.
The teams last met in the Carling Cup at the second round stage in 2000/01, with Millwall winning the first leg 2 - 0 at the Den before Ipswich went through after a 5 - 0 victory at Portman Road, three of those goals coming in extra time after Millwall had been reduced to nine men.
The match will take place in the week commencing September 20th.
