Fusion U18 Girls 1 Bermuda Women’s Senior Academy 2
Bermuda Women’s Senior Academy playing their third match during their Ten Day International Friendly tour defeated the Fusion U18 Girls 2 – 1.
Head Coach Jeremy Salaam “This performance was a great turn around, the effort the ladies put in was more consistent and allowed us to dominate for long periods of time.”
“We pressed them right from the start with some high pressure that they struggle with, our pace wide made life difficult for them to keep pace with the likes of Arkeita Fubler and Jenay Edness, while whenever Shuntae Todd got the ball it demanded two and three defenders converging on her to stop her,” continued Salaam.
Jessica Furtado gave the Bermuda Women’s Senior Academy a 1 – 0 lead early in the first half, before Todd doubled the lead midway through the half.
“Heat took its toll on the players as we had to keep making changes, however the players did adjust to the task at hand,” Salaam went on to say.
During a period in the second half the Fusion U18 Girls played themselves back into the game and scored to make the final few minutes interesting, however the Bermuda Women’s Senior Academy would not be denied their first win on the tour.
“For a young team, I think this tour has indeed been an eye opener for many of them, they have had to adjust to training and playing in different conditions and I am pleased with what I have seen thus far,” concluded Salaam.
